Water Treatment Tank Fabricated Container Case Study
A Lancashire based company contacted Lion Containers (Fabrications) Ltd looking for some costs for two container conversions. The containers will be used to house water treatment tanks which are used with activated carbon to purify water. After several discussions regarding the plans a representative from the company visited our depot in Liverpool to speak to Lion’s conversions team. Whilst at the depot they were shown two containers, one which was on the ground so that he could see the internal and external structure that they would be using for their project and we lifted another container so he could see the base of the container with its foundations.
The main aim for this project was to change the floor of the container so that it could hold any water that may spill out of the treatment tanks. The customer had calculated the volume of water that could potentially spill and together with Lion’s conversion team came up with a design which involved removing the marine ply wood floor out of the container to create a purpose built bund which will be fitted and made out of galvanised steel. The conversions team built a frame which would raise the floor and bund so that there would be enough space to hold the water.
At first sliding doors were going to be used for this unit but after some consideration it was decided that manual roller shutter doors would be more suitable. Lion also fitted louver vents to allow air to circulate. At first it was planned that the unit would be painted white internally however it was decided during the build that painting the unit black inside would work much better as it would suit the carbon that would be in the unit.
A member from Lion Containers conversion team met and liaised with the customer throughout the build. Photos of the completed unit were sent to the customer prior to delivery to ensure that we had met and exceeded his requirements! These photos are of the 20ft and 40ft new container that have been converted and delivered.
